The Discussion > Rehanb Signs Now?

I have lived in this City for 50 years. I have seen it go from a flourishing busy downtown where people went to do their daily shopping to a ghost town. We have demolished most of our historical buildings for whatever reason and now the City wants to waste money on trying to save a few signs, for what? Here is a better idea, one that should have been done with the original Metropolitan Square development; tear down all the rest of what is left of our downtown, pick a theme (like 1920’s or something) and build all new. No one driving down Northwest highway even knows the Square exists. And when they do get into the downtown there is NO consistency in the design era. We have everything from old and falling apart, 70’s square monolith, modern to new flash back to the good old years.

My guess is I could point out to 90% of the people that live in this town several buildings and they would not know anything about them. Here is one for you Matt and it’s an easy one. What is the tall building behind the new downtown Post Office? Dig that one up!

The point of all of this is that because of the way we, the citizens, have allowed our City to be governed we have nothing but Hodge Podge yuk in our downtown and yet we all sit around with egg on our faces wondering why doesn’t anyone want to shop here.

Don’t waste our money on the couple of useless signs that really no longer have any meaning.
