City Council Meeting: 03/05/10
Tonight's meeting began following and hour and a half executive session. A majority of the Council (myself NOT included) is still interested in learning more about the Sims Bowl property. We will see what comes of it, but I still believe this is the wrong time to assume debt and/or spend TIF funds to "land bank."
The Mayor proclaimed April "Alcohol Awareness Month," the City's lobbyist reported on activity in Springfield, and a condo development at 1398 Prairie was granted an extension on their variation.
On second reading, the Council discussed an ordinance that would allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in local gas stations. Mayor Moylan broke a 4-4 tie to introduce alcohol to gas station retail outlets. I voted "no" on the measure.
Alderman Matt Bogusz
